All Out Of Faith

Last week, I gave an astrology reading to a client who was getting the shit kicked out of him in various areas of life. When we finished, I checked-in to see how he felt about his reading, and he responded that, “to be honest,” he was very disappointed. I asked why, and he replied that he was disheartened to learn the next six months would be much of the same difficulties he had been experiencing over the past year. I followed up; “well, now that you are aware of what is happening over these next few months, how might you react differently?” He said that he would continue to react the way he’s been reacting – by doing the best that he can.
I started with another question; “do you feel like you have been able to reach a place of acceptance with all that is going on in your life right now?” He said that he had no choice; he was powerless, all he could do was surrender. I then went on to ask if he had a spiritual practice or a religious institution that could help him work through what we both termed a “dismantling” of his life. He responded, “I have run all out of faith.” At that point, I stopped asking questions, and began to listen to his story of life unraveling, as he braved a cycle of adjust and release and adjust and release.

What struck me throughout our session was not the turmoil he described. What struck me was his grace. He was a kind man – gentle, polite, and extremely perceptive. He knew he was in the trenches, and was doing what any of us would do during moments of crisis. He may not have had a religious institution or a spiritual practice to find solace, and it didn’t matter. I believe that his willingness to walk through chaos in grace, and with humility, was faith restoring whether he realized it or not; you could also call it hope. Sometimes, all we can do is throw our hands up and hope for the best. The act alone often brings us to humble new beginnings.

Check your horoscopes to see what’s in store this week ahead, and don’t forget to read for your Ascendant sign, too.

Was the poor man a Sagittarius? I can relate entirely to his terming his life condition a ‘dismantling’....

I can relate as well with him and I am a Scorpio. The last 7 years of my life has been dismantling. But faith is what is keeping me going.
