The planet Mars turns retrograde once every two years, and can be a difficult transit. Mars retrograde brings blocked action; no matter how hard we try, life feels eternally put on hold. This particular retrograde has been dense because Mars has spent a considerable amount of time in the sign of Scorpio. Scorpios have a tendency to sit with pain and discomfort before making any big change, and Mars here has forced us to do the same. It seems we have all been at war with ourselves in many ways, internalizing conflicts that remain unresolved.
Que sera sera. Whatever will be, will be.

Only now am I able to articulate the heaviness in my heart over events in Orlando this past week, tears still waiting to fall because of grief that has been stuck in the pit of my stomach. Deep concerns for our world keep my thoughts on loop. I feel overwhelmed by one too many inconvenient truths. The longer I sit with this cringing discomfort, the more I am forced to acknowledge the shocking realization that I am truly afraid.

My essence may have expanded under the focus of your gaze. For certain, you glimpsed my Soul on that day, in her full spectrum of beauty. |
