I was recently with a group of badass women from my church the other night, and shared with them some pent-up emotions. I’ve been having a difficult time articulating what I feel, but it goes something like this: I can no longer tolerate being around people, or in spaces, that do not adhere to a code of honesty, truth, or an evolved state of being. That means, if you continue to operate from an outdated mindset, I can’t connect with you. If you tell people how to live their own lives, but fail to embody your own teachings and wisdom, I can’t respect you. If the spaces we frequent together no longer reflect my own moral code and evolutionary growth, I can’t go there with you. And while I do compassion like a boss, I won't make excuses for you.

Whatever happened over the weekend courtesy of that Capricorn Full Moon is a precursor to what’s on the horizon come August. We’ve got back to back lunar energy commencing as early as July 23rd, with a New Moon followed by a Lunar Eclipse on August 7th, and a grand Solar Eclipse on August 21st. The Leo/Aquarius axis will be triggered (Aquarius will host the Lunar Eclipse in just a few short weeks), which means topics around creative self-expression and collective innovation will be themes. This could be good, or challenging, and it is where we are headed.
On this day and all days, we each must soldier on in life and death for what is right and just and true. May it be so. In Memoriam ❤
On this Memorial Day, I remember the brave women and men who fought and died for our country; I remember the brave women and men who fought and died for black liberation in our country, a struggle that continues; This week, I dare you to thrive.
If there is anything that Venus Retrograde has revealed to me over these past few weeks, it is that we often must carry with us conflicting realities, to draw conclusions incorporating many disparate parts that lead to a balanced and whole perspective. Your relationship partner, for example, is not perfect. S/he will indeed be flawed, characterized by both amazing and infuriating traits and attributes. It is inevitable that you will spar. It is inevitable that you will laugh. Ultimately, if this is a relationship that you can embrace even with its hardships, you might deem your imperfect union worthy of an investment – an investment that enhances your life in some way. To what extent am I willing to have my sense of security challenged, for the sake of change and self-betterment?
The planet Pluto has been moving through the sign of Capricorn since 2008, and upon ingress, many of our beliefs, values, and institutional systems shifted quite drastically. Financial crises rocked global markets; snow and ice were discovered on planet Mars; the U.S. elected its first African-American president, and I walked away from full-time employment without having any job prospects in place. These major events left many people filled with anxiety, and vulnerable. Change reared its head as most of us grappled to maintain the status quo. In hindsight, we – our world, in many ways – transformed for the better due to faltering foundations. But not before we released our need for control, and surrendered to the unfolding. Sometimes a seed that is planted in the mind needs to be rooted in the heart before it can blossom.
Saturn in the 1st house of my astrological birth chart makes me very intentional with the goals and ambitions I pursue. But I also have an Aries Moon that makes me equally impatient, and in need of instant gratification. The older I get, however, the more I understand that when I am patient with time, time is patient with me. It is a delicate balance that I must always be mindful of, between racing to the finish line, and thoughtfully planning a course of action. I find equilibrium when I can remember to take baby steps. The little victories that follow are more meaningful and help keep up my momentum. Great Spirit, Help me to reconcile all of the emotions and sentiments boiling inside of me, and thank you for stirring the pot.
I grew up in black and white spaces all of my life. I was one of a handful of African Americans enrolled in a Catholic school outside of Philadelphia, and then I experienced culture shock at a racially diverse public high school where kids of color accused me of “talking white.” Eventually, I was forced into isolation while attending a predominantly black college. I was too intimidated by the black kids at that point, and I did not want to hang with the white kids for fear that my people might accuse me of “selling out.” “Those who stay away from the election think that one vote will do no good. ‘Tis but one step more to think one vote will do no harm.” R. W. Emerson
Monday’s last quarter Moon in the sign of Aquarius, followed by the planet Mars’ entry into the sign of Aquarius this Wednesday, is quite timely for the election that falls in between. Tuesday is when we as a society come together to exercise our right to vote. Under this Aquarian influence, it does not matter if you vote Democrat or Republican. Under this Aquarian influence, what matters is that your vote inspires revolutionary change for the greater good – whether that means casting a ballot for our nation’s first woman president, or casting a ballot for our nation’s first openly bigoted and misogynistic business man, who does not pay his taxes. You decide. "It is funny how people who know the least about you have the most to say." ~Unknown
I was in line waiting for my sister and niece to join me as we ordered food at the mall the other day. When they walked up next to me, the woman behind us confronted my sister, and accused her of cutting in line. My sister calmly explained that I had been standing there for the three of us, and reassured the woman that she was not cutting the line. The woman went on with stories and grievances of people cutting in front of her intentionally, to which my sister responded: “Ok…But WE don’t do things like that.” Originally posted on Rebelle Society
“Even after all this time, the Sun never says to the Earth, ‘You owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that, it lights the whole sky.” ~ Hafiz Mars is no longer retrograde, Saturn is no longer retrograde, and we are now entering eclipse season — a time of great cosmic shifts. We usually get two sets of eclipses every year during the Spring and Fall months, and they come in pairs — a lunar eclipse, and a solar eclipse. |
