A Story Of Two Truths

“Some people just can’t hold two different truths in their hands.” My Girl, Blue

The Full Moon in Virgo on Monday, February 22nd, opposes the Sun in Pisces. These two signs are opposite each other on the Zodiac wheel, and I tend to think of opposite signs as two different sides to the same exact coin. Opposite signs have similar goals in mind, but they approach their goals from different angles. Virgo is an Earth sign that seeks to be of service in ways that are concrete, and aims for simplicity in the interest of efficiency. Meanwhile Pisces, even though similar in its desire to be of service, seeks to transcend this earthly plane through compassion and instinctual care as a Water sign. Virgo is practical, in other words, while Pisces is abstract. Virgo focuses on results, while Pisces recognizes the need to let life unfold.
The Sun and Moon above, currently 180 degrees a part, reflect a balancing act playing out on planet Earth. We are all being challenged to hold space for two truths: the truth of what is, and the truth that is in our hearts. This is the story of two people who love each other deeply, but are unable to be together at this time. Or the economic constraints that come with creating a safe haven for refugees, matched with a heartfelt desire to accept as many as possible. It is tending to the nuts and bolts of life – like paying bills or buying groceries, while remaining open to the magic and miracles of life that bring deeper meaning and fulfillment. Under these skies, it is not enough to operate in terms of black or white. Gray is a part of the spectrum too; to ignore it would be to stifle our ability to grow through faith and adversity.

This paradox is the paradox of life that we often disregard. It can be difficult, sometimes painful, to acknowledge various truths, as it reminds us of just how little control we have in any given situation. But as multi-dimensional beings, it is unnatural to be one thing or the other, or to accept one thing or the other. This limits our evolution. The best way to live in a world where everything is everything is by integrating all that we are – the wonder that keeps us buoyant, and the pragmatism necessary for our survival. We are, after all, spiritual beings living a human experience. There are tangible rewards that come with embracing the unknown. To accept this would be to accept ourselves as we fully are.

This is what it means to be in the world, and not of it. It is a fine line that requires us to live our Soul’s truth, and still be grounded in the reality of our daily hustle. Where could you stand to be more open in life? Where do you need to be more realistic? How can you be both? As you contemplate these questions during the Full Moon, remember to be gentle. The answers might be clear as day, or not yet known, and that is OK. This is a learning process that will help us to make the most of life, while living in the meantime of life
