Adapt, Bob, and Weave...

Gemini the Twins is a multilayered sign that thrives on knowledge and mental stimulation (i.e., the evening news, community events, books, classroom settings, discussions, technology, gossip, the internet, etc.). Mars, meanwhile, is the planet in our Solar System that inspires our drive, our ambitions, and the ways in which we pursue what (who) we want. It is the spark that ignites our actions.
When we add the warrior planet to this mutable sign, the juggling effect that results scatters energy in several directions in order to reach end goals. To get at least one thing accomplished under the influence of Mars in Gemini, one must have several things going on at the same time.

As Mars settles into its retrograde station, however (an event that only occurs once every 24 months when Mars gives the optical illusion of orbiting the almighty Sun backwards), we can expect to actually lose momentum. This could mean greater consideration before we speak, longer periods of reflection, and more deliberate thinking.

This could also look like anxious thoughts, frustrated communications, and insensitive words; both Mars and Gemini have dualistic attributes that must often be weighed. For Mars, it’s the difference between assertion and aggression. For Gemini, it’s the difference between rational thinking and over-thinking.

There is an habitual need to analyze and scrutinize every task under these stars, and we’ve all been deep in the weeds of it since Mars first entered Gemini in mid-August. We’ve grown accustomed to navigating many “moving parts,” adapting, bobbing, and weaving where necessary. But with the retrograde, we may have to focus our attention a little more, or cut our losses entirely. If we’re unable to move forward in one area, all other areas could undergo disruption.

This is precisely why tense exchanges, unresolved agreements, and stalemates are likely. What’s more, as election season intensifies in the U.S., campaign ads may become even more negative with misinformation and conspiracy theories spreading like wildfires. Some election results might even be delayed.

Thus, it will be important to exercise restraint in what we say, and take care not to let our self-talk go unchecked and unchallenged. This is not the time to force an opinion or run roughshod over other opinions. We’re all being given opportunities to learn and listen, to turn to curiosity, to do some long overdue self-inquiry, and to unlearn harmful narratives that no longer serve us.

This can be a fruitful transit if we use it wisely. It’s OK to change your mind, to engage with an open heart, and to revise your style of communication. As the saying goes, “you can attract more bees with honey than vinegar.” Be sure to use your words to make peace, not war.

Mars will be retrograde in the sign of Gemini through January 13, 2023. Check your horoscopes for more insight on how your Sun/Rising Sign will be impacted.
