An Invitation For Your Fears

Nina Simone once famously wrote, “We need to learn to leave the table when love is not being served.” What is equally important is that we learn to invite fear to the table when it has us in its grips.
Fear is not something to get over.  Fear must be addressed, considered, examined and seen. It is the only way to truly heal so that love can be served.

I encourage you to get proximate to those insecurities, doubts and anxieties that hover over you. Unwanted feelings and thoughts should be embraced to be understood, the same as you would embrace a weeping child.

Inviting these things in will allow for a conversation to be had, and integration to occur, so that you’re not denying any aspect of yourself, but instead, loving every  aspect of who you are.

In the process of getting intimate with your fears you may find that they aren’t fears after all. Just outdated stories and narratives that need reframing.

If you believe yourself to be “too sensitive,” for example, and have fears expressing your emotions, consider, instead, that you are caring. You are an empath. You have a strong sense of humanity.

If you were told you were “too much” growing up and have fears letting your light shine too bright, consider that your light is inherently bright because you are a child of God, and so, never too much.

When we sit with fear, we inevitably begin to tell a different story. Then, fear can no longer be called “fear.” At that point, there are no more “fears” to get over. At that point, “fear” simply no longer exists.

Check your horoscopes to see what’s in store for this week ahead, and don’t forget to read for your Ascendant sign too.

Quote: “I have learned over the years that when one's mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear."

Why it matters: On Dec. 1, 1955, Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to move to the back of a bus and give her seat to a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama.
