As we unpacked a bit more, I started to realize that not only do we live in a society that defines play as something to be earned, there is often resistance to letting out our inner child. It has to be at an “appropriate time” when no one is watching, and I say EFF that – play can be had anytime and anyplace.
The fact is, anything that connects us to our most playful self – that sweet spot that puts us in flow without care or worry – is a spiritual act. Meditation may not cut it and charging crystals isn't always necessary. Oftentimes, the easiest way to get in flow is by simply doing what brings us joy and happiness.
And this should be a regular thing, folks, not something done a couple times a year while on vacation. As my friend Jamila White has said, we should be taking at least 10-minutes of vacation daily without guilt, interruption or shame.
As the Sun keeps us in Leo Season – the Season of Play – your assignment is to find and indulge as much play as you can muster, and to do so WITOUT cap our condition. Avoid limiting or bargaining with yourself when it comes to experiencing joy.
Don’t just dip your toe in the water, do a cannonball. Don’t allot a specific amount of time to do a creative project, keep going as you are motivated.
Don’t tell your romantic partner that you’ve got to go to bed early in order to wake up for work the next day, have a pillow fight and focus on pleasure together.
Don’t tell your kids to go to bed. Let them stay up as late as they want just because.
We could all stand to be a bit more courageous when it comes to curating a life of play, especially given the times we are currently living in. So be a Lion like Leo. Play until your heart - your Soulful self - is content.
Check your horoscopes to see what’s in store for this week ahead, and don’t forget to read for your Ascendant sign too.
