What I love about the sign of Scorpio is that it is unafraid to think what most people feel shame about. Scorpio is unafraid of saying what most people wouldn’t dare express. Scorpio is unafraid of doing what some would find inappropriate. There’s a delicate balance this sign walks between light and dark.
Unfortunately, we live in a society that boasts of “love and light” at the expense of recognizing those gifts that come with the dark. Edgar Allan Poe once wrote, “Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.” Poe was describing the fullness of our encounters with life in the dark, a fullness we shouldn’t be afraid to encounter. A fullness that Scorpio knows all too well.
As we move through the season, I encourage you to, at the very least, get curious about any perceived darkness around you. Whether it’s the weight of the world, a difficult relationship, or your own fear-based behaviors and responses, I invite you to get proximate to whatever it is that brings you discomfort.
In doing so gracefully, patiently, determinedly, and fully committed just as Scorpio would insist, you may find that the darkness present connects you to the fullness of who and what you are, shedding light on all the beautiful parts of your complex human Soul. Once you've glimpsed what exists in the dark, I dare you to love it. I dare you to accept all of you without shame, judgement or inhibition.
