I'll Take A Little Entitlement, Please

“Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others feeling after having an experience with you becomes your trademark.” ~Jay Danzie

I was giving an Astrology reading to a Leo Sun the other day, who shared with me her fear of becoming the shining star she was meant to be, because she didn’t want to seem vain or narcissistic while promoting her unique gifts and talents (vanity and narcissism represent the shadow side of Leo). Fast-forward to later that day; I was talking to a Scorpio Sun, who freely acknowledged the importance of having a healthy sense of entitlement (especially for young girls), and that it was OK to feel disappointment when your expectations fall short of extraordinary. I could relate to both sentiments. On the one hand we are taught to reach for the stars – the sky is the limit! On the other hand we must be mindful of greed, and not ask for too much. It can be tricky to find a middle ground that is humble, and too often we default to settling for less than abundance.

One of my favorite quotes is by Zelda Fitzgerald: “She quietly expected great things to happen to her, and no doubt that's one of the reasons why they did.” Imagine living your life expecting great things to happen. What would that entail, and why shouldn’t you expect it? What if you received all that you could ever hope for; how would you live your life differently today? One of the things I do as a Life Coach is challenge people’s beliefs and conditioning. Not because I want to change how people think. But because I want folks to think for themselves, no longer living by outdated standards and teachings with which they were raised that so often influence self-limitation. True empowerment begins with a healthy sense of entitlement. This isn’t about demanding the life you want from a place of egoism. It’s about knowing you are entitled to the life that you want, a life that reflects the yearnings of your soulful self.

We’ve got a light week ahead as the planet Venus moves through the sign of Gemini, reminding us of all that is possible. We are being encouraged to explore what we value the most, and to do so with responsibility as Saturn’s transit through Sagittarius would suggest. As we indulge our curiosities, there must be intentions for all that is being considered. It is not enough to just be curious in other words. We have to be willing to completely step outside of the box and embrace all that could be in our lives. Now would be a good time, then, to revisit any New Year’s resolutions. Only this time with the understanding that what your spirit seeks is already yours, because you’re entitled to it. Check your horoscopes to see how astrological transits will affect your sign this coming week, and be sure to read for your Ascendant sign too.

Enjoyed this : )
Reminded me of the takers & givers of life... It's high time for us givers to grab a bowl and request our servings from life also.

Why are my post always food related (lol)...must be reading these too early in the a.m.

I'll tell myself it's because these post are nourishing my spirit... Yeah, that's it : )
