Keeping It Real

11/8/2015

It is the dark that trickles into your light that I find the most attractive. It is what makes you truly authentic.

Like most people, one of the biggest challenges I struggle with is being my evolved self every minute of every day of my life. As a human being, I am inherently flawed. I have a pretty “healthy sized” ego. I am extremely sensitive, and I take personal offense to things rather easily. Whenever my humanness bubbles to the surface, it can be difficult to show others compassion, forgive a perceived slight, or let go of what I cannot change. But at least I am honest about these things. While it is always my intention to put my best foot forward in any situation, giving all kinds of benefits to the doubts, it is equally hard to repress the dark that often trickles into my light.
Many folks will tell you that they are attracted to those who “keep it real,” which is something I value too. Keeping it real, in my opinion, implies showing up to life fully present; and when you can’t, not bothering with a half ass effort, so that you might conserve energy for tomorrow. Keeping it real is acknowledging your stuff without guilt or shame, while holding space for others to do the same, with an added caveat of empathy. It is the conviction that is well-meaning, regardless of other opinions. It is the expression of that which is considered negative as intently as the expression of what is positive. Keeping it real, in other words, is about honest living in all aspects of life.

The person that is the most attractive is the person who embraces their dark and their light. It is easy for me to accept such a person, because in return, they make it easy for me to accept myself. I find comfort connecting with those who are comfortable in their discomfort. Not because misery loves company, but because my soul connects with other souls in ways that are not just harmonious – to quote M. Esther Harding: “conflict is the beginning of consciousness.”

Venus’ entry into the sign of Libra this week ensures that we will all find common ground by keeping it real. As the Sun, which represents the state of collective consciousness in Astrology, shines its bright and powerful rays in the penetrative sign of Scorpio, may our commonalities be found in the light, as well as the dark. Check your horoscopes
to see what’s in store this week ahead, and don’t forget to read for your Ascendant sign.

I know this may sound odd but is there any way I can view last week's 11/1/2015 horoscopes? I've been behind & I tried to read them last night & this week's had already been posted. I went to the archives but they weren't there. I did read the blog however, which I enjoyed as always.

Hi Seccoyya,

Thanks for your message! I don't have an archive for old horoscopes on my website - it's on my to do list to create before the end of this year! I'm sorry for the inconvenience. If you want to email me your zodiac sign, I can send you the horoscope for that week: info@traceylrogers.com. Thanks again for your message!

I love this! Especially this! "The person that is the most attractive is the person who embraces their dark and their light. It is easy for me to accept such a person, because in return, they make it easy for me to accept myself. I find comfort connecting with those who are comfortable in their discomfort"

Thanks Olivia! I was surprised when the "comfort" part of this piece came out of me, lol! Writing really is quite cathartic for me. Thanks for always being so supportive, and for leaving your comment.

Hi Arly! The technical definition of the Ascendant sign is the sign in which the sun was rising to the east of where you were born. As the sun always rises in the east first, your ascendant sign describes the first impression we make on other people. If you know your time of birth (or a 2-hr estimate), you can visit astro.com to plug in your birth details and find out what your ascendant sign is. Thanks for your comment!
