I’ve likened the start of 2021 to the end of a zombie apocalypse movie. The orange-skinned zombie in the White House has been defeated (for now). We’re coming out of the 2020 tunnel, blinded by that bright and hopeful light, trying to get our bearings.
Our sea legs will soon find sturdy ground. But not yet. No matter how disoriented you feel, you’ve got to lean into the sluggishness. Sleep longer. Don’t do shit if you can get away with it, and rest.
2020 was a horrendous year that brought both wide-spread and small scale trauma. We can all be forgiven, then, for feeling out of sorts and unsteady after such a whirlwind.
As the pandemic continues to take one too many lives, and Snowmageddon consumes every inch of this country, you may, quite understandably, feel more tired and irritable than usual.
So, go ahead. Cling to what brings you joy. Binge watch your favorite television show (I’ve started re-watching “The Ghost Whisperer). Let’s just take an extended snow day. We all deserve one.
