How often do you reflect on what you wish to cultivate in your life, clear on the decisions that need to be made, and the changes that need to occur? Do you ever pause to consider all the possibilities? Or do you reject your dreams, writing them off until they are hidden from view? I would argue that the majority of people, myself included, block abundance in life. Most times, it is never our conscious doing. In fact, the act of self-sabotage usually happens when we are close to success. The more clients I coach, the more I see the pattern, and the root cause stems from low self-worth.

Many of us were raised to simply do our best, follow society’s template for success, and live a contented life. Women have their own script, men have their own script; rarely do we consciously veer off from script, denying our creative gifts of improvisation. So much has been conditioned in us by those who have also been conditioned. We have forgotten how to think for ourselves; how to be for ourselves; how to live for ourselves. Standards are at an all-time low. The older we get, the more we tend to lessen our expectations. We live in a day and age, now, where it takes a herculean effort to stay positive, and to dare to dream.
I say, no more.
It is true that the myth of security is just that – a myth. We each have free will, but life is never fully under our control. People are people; we are all different and special and flawed and imperfect and unique – not one of us is the same. But the one thing we all have in common – the one thing we can control – is the decision to live life on our terms as best we see fit. Nothing is ever guaranteed, and, we can still cultivate a life well lived. Circumstances often bring obstacles to our overall aims, and, we can still aim high, never compromising our vision. What’s more, we can do this following the basic principle to do no harm to self or to others. Everything and anything is possible.
