Tempered Efforts

Ever since Mars stationed direct and entered the sign of Sagittarius last week, the pace of life has not only quickened, but things have become livelier. There is a sudden urge to strike while the iron is hot, take advantage of an opportunity, get on board with new information technology, and siege the moment. That’s the beauty of Sagittarius – this sign is all about expansion with no time to waste. Mars has given us a jumpstart to get things moving again. But soon, the planet Saturn will cause our enthusiasm to wane.
Saturn has been retrograde in the sign of Sagittarius since March, and will also station direct over the coming days. A planet in retrograde motion brings life to a halt for the sake of discernment; as Saturn gains traction, lessons unlearned will come home to roost. Whatever has been swept under the rug will be dug up and put on display. The elephant in the room must finally be dealt with, never ignored again. Ultimately, we are being challenged, both individually and collectively, to search for truth – first by acknowledgement, then by decisive action. Sagittarius is the Archer, after all. This centaur aims for the core of what is, traveling far and wide to reach its mark.

As the god of time in Roman mythology, Saturn’s touch tempers our efforts in all endeavors – no short cuts; no half-assed planning; no sidestepping. I have personally felt the effects of Saturn’s shift matched with Mars’ momentum. At once, I am excited for what’s around the bend, and also cautious with how I exert my energy in pursuit. Albert Einstein said, “the search for truth implies also a duty; one must not conceal any part of what one has recognized to be true.” As we seek justice in our personal lives and on the world’s stage, Saturn gives us the stamina to enforce truth, and the moral drive to transform.

The ringed planet will soon catch up with the warrior planet, forming what is called a conjunction in the sky (two planets in the same sign within a 5 degree orb). Once this aspect is exact, a reality check will remind us of the need to be conscientious with our truth-seeking agendas. Pay attention to what unfolds during these planetary transits as we approach eclipse season beginning on August 18th; a few plot twists and turns are in store now through September (I will write more on this later). Mars and Saturn combined creates an atmosphere of challenged energy – the infamous pause before the great shift. If we plan accordingly, our mission will have the potential to broaden, and ripple the earth.
