I’ve met my Pluto. I’ve met someone who moves me deeply, simultaneously conjuring all that is beautiful, flawed, and fearful about my delicate Soul. At once, I want to reveal all that I am to this person, and at the same time, I exercise immense psychic restraint. I am intensely drawn to my Pluto, so much so that I go out of my way to avoid direct contact. My Pluto is kind, gentle, and spiritual, and also brooding, controlling, and obsessive. I want to know my Pluto as intimately as possible – what it’s like to be them, who they really are, and the inner turmoil they struggle with on a daily basis. Interestingly, I wish to know myself on this intimate level as well.
In classical mythology, Pluto (also known as Hades) was god of the underworld who presided over the afterlife. Pluto’s reputation in Astrology as the harbinger of death (not strictly literal) was taken from myth, and is symbolized as the Phoenix rising from the ashes of annihilation. Pluto brings you to your core, and shakes you raw while invoking true fear. It is this kind of fear – a fear of death and the unknown – that puts us face to face with our own mortality. A keenly morbid awareness ensues that effectively leads us to live fearless lives, evolved and all. That is how Pluto’s energy works, hence my apprehension and complete willingness to go the depths hand in hand with my Pluto.
The past week has been rather intense for me personally. But it’s also been a week that has lead to some humbling self-inquiry. My Pluto unnervingly mirrors back to me all that I am, so that I might rise just like the Phoenix to that next stage of life. Have you met your Pluto? It feels like that familiar place you instinctively know but fear to go. It is where you will find all the answers you seek. It is where you will find redemption, an encompassing love, and total peace.
