The Season of Acceleration

As we celebrate women this month, I am excited to feature guest bloggers who are empowered women causing ripple effects of good in this world! This week's post is by Karol Gilmore Dixon.

I was awaken one morning by the voice of Joel Osteen on television, preaching about the Prophet Amos, and saying something about receiving blessings so quickly that it would make your head spin. I was intrigued because it spoke to my spirit as I made the connection to my own personal experience. I sat up to listen more intently, and it all came together for me in an instant.  Joel Osteen continuously spoke about the God of Acceleration, and how we are amidst a season where He would begin to speed things up. That promotion, better finances, or an illness you thought would take some time to heal, would all change so quickly that it will make your head spin!
While watching his sermon, I immediately began to thank God as I recalled how just two years ago, my husband lost his job, and we had to vacate our big beautiful home to move into a place that I did not like.  We had to make ends meet on my salary, which was significantly less than his, and I was miserable at my own job. I used this as motivation to improve my quality of life, and not settle just because we were experiencing hardship.

Joel Osteen next began to preach about Jesus’ first miracle: turning water into wine. He said that this was true acceleration, because the wine making process can take up to 3-5 years. To hear him explain the details of this miracle brought tears to my eyes. After all of my misery only a couple of years back, I finally received that job offer, and began to work in my purpose of empowering women. I was overly consumed with blessings in acceleration; after starting my new job, I received a promotion and raise just three months later. The blessings did not stop there! Within the next two months, I received another promotion and raise, and in about the same amount of time, I received yet another promotion and raise. I thought to myself “God is so good.” I had no choice but to be grateful.

I may have had to sit still for a moment, through difficult times. But when my season came around, my head was left spinning, and there were times I thought it was all too good to be true. I was not sure if I was even ready for all of it. But when the miracle of acceleration is bestowed upon you, you have to be open and ready to receive it.  If not, you will miss out on a greater intended purpose for your life.
