True Self Love

“If you don’t like the god/goddess that you are being shown, then you should consider the god/goddess that you are putting forth.” ~J. Shane

I often tell the empowered men and women I coach who are looking for love that in order to receive the love they want, they have to be the love they seek. As cliché as it sounds, it is true; you cannot expect the love you desire if you are not loving yourself in a way that is desirable. Like really does attract like, people, and if we don’t like (or love) ourselves, then why should anyone else? This is simple in theory, but we tend to get it wrong, and the main reason is this: self-love is often mistaken for status or self-care.
You’re independent? Great. You’ve got a good job? Awesome. You make good money, own your own home, drive a nice car, stay in shape, keep your hair tight, spa it up when you can, and travel on a whim? Congratulations, you are “adulting” and that is wonderful. It is clear that you care about yourself; otherwise, you wouldn’t take such good care of yourself! But how does this all translate into your ability to be in intimate union with another – one that is healthy, committed, and deeply loving?

If you are stumped by my question, it’s OK because so am I. I find that my desire to merge with and commit to another is matched by my own failed attempts at self-love. Don’t get me confused; I take care of myself like a boss. But I could stand to be a bit more trusting of myself, and of others. I could stand to be more courageous when it comes to acknowledging, expressing, and receiving what I need in love. I could stand to be more faithful in knowing that no matter the risk I take for love, I will always be OK because I self-love. Self-love is the permission we give ourselves to be more of who we truly are. It is not something we have to “do” or prove. The more you allow your authentic self to just be, the more self-loving you will be, and the more love you will receive in kind.

We’ve got some dicey energy coming up this weekend. There is a Full Moon on Saturday, the second one this month (the last one was a doozy – we lost a Prince), and this Full Moon is syncing up with Mars. You may even be able to see Mars in the sky not too far off, as the warrior planet is currently visible to the naked eye. The combination of Moon/Mars energy is best described as forced emotions. Something or someone may trigger a deep feeling sentiment that has nowhere to go but up and out. Of course, what erupts does not necessarily have to be a bad thing; this energy is playing out in the truth-seeking sign of Sagittarius, which means that you will at least get to the truth of a matter. Seems like a worthy exercise in self-love. When all is said and done, you will know where you stand, and it may be closer to whatever or whomever you truly need and love.

Check your horoscopes to see what’s in store this week ahead, and don’t forget to read for your Ascendant sign.

I tell you...each time you are on point Tracey. My soul currently moves in a motion of repairing something or just letting it go..whether it's good or bad. Thank you!

Thanks, Nina! I'm glad this resonates with you, and I believe my Soul moves in a similar motion - life's ebb and flow :-) Thanks for your comment!
