Try Thriving

This week, I dare you to thrive.

If there is anything that Venus Retrograde has revealed to me over these past few weeks, it is that we often must carry with us conflicting realities, to draw conclusions incorporating many disparate parts that lead to a balanced and whole perspective. Your relationship partner, for example, is not perfect. S/he will indeed be flawed, characterized by both amazing and infuriating traits and attributes. It is inevitable that you will spar. It is inevitable that you will laugh. Ultimately, if this is a relationship that you can embrace even with its hardships, you might deem your imperfect union worthy of an investment – an investment that enhances your life in some way.
Money and finances are other examples. You may want to buy a certain kind of vehicle – one that is new and affordable, luxury and practical. But does it fit your budget? It might be difficult to make the monthly payments. But having done your research, you know that this car fits your needs. Then there is your career; are you valued at work in the way that you deserve? Maybe your office operates on a tight budget that restricts any kind of salary increase, but you love your job. Should you risk leaving to find a higher paying position? Decent pay might be more important if you live paycheck to paycheck, or, maybe what you value most is work that you enjoy.

Most people, including yours truly, tend to think in terms of black or white – it is just easier that way. Aries, Leo, and Scorpio are especially guilty – these are all or nothing type signs. I personally believe that there are certain areas of life where we simply cannot afford to be neutral, like when it comes to social justice. In matters of the heart, too, this Leo Sun and Aries Moon has a difficult time with loose arrangements. But grey is a color, nonetheless, a color formed when combining black with white. While firmly sticking to one side or the other – one extreme or the other – is portrayed as being strong and decisive, we often miss out on important lessons and insights when we fail to consider the grey areas.

Venus retrograde in the warrior sign of Aries has caused many of us to dig in our heels when it comes to the people and things that we value – all or nothing. However, Venus retrograde in the sign of Pisces now through April 15th may see us lifting our heels a little, easing up on a marked indentation so that we might create space for compassion, and understanding, and a little grey. Practicality, convenience, and safety may be tried and true tools for survival. But we thrive when we move beyond our will to simply survive, allowing black and white to naturally blend so that we might color a vibrant self-image, capturing all shades of life. I dare you to thrive.

Venus is currently retrograde in Aries and Pisces through April 15th. To find out how your life will be affected, check out my Venus Retrograde special reading.
