While taking a long drive to hang with my mom over the weekend, I found myself in conversation with God reflecting on my top moments of 2021. I came up with five, and as I began to express my gratitude, God whispered to me, “Now, what five moments do you wish for in 2022?"
I paused. Before I could answer, I felt a wave of resistance. The saying, “be careful what you wish for,” came to mind, and I was too scared to open my mouth. That’s when God followed up with, “and remember, no dream is too big. Speak what immediately comes from your Soul. Try not to qualify it or give it story.”
By this point, I was fighting back tears. I knew that if I stated my wishes they would come to fruition and that I would be blessed beyond measure. This was my lived experience in 2021, and had been my lived experience over the past 40 years! There was no reason to doubt that the Universe would deliver.
I also knew that once I put my intentions out there, I would have to be prepared to receive them as they were meant to be received. Given my Virgo Rising’s ability to plan anything, my Leo Sun’s ability to will my way through anything, and my Aries Moon’s ability to force my way through anything, preparation to receive would be hard. That’s the part where I’d have to surrender my expectations of how my blessings should arrive – y’all know God be workin' in "mysterious" ways!
Then finally, as I began to take deep breaths to calm my nerves, I was gently reminded that it is not always necessary for me to plan, will, or force anything in my life. Sometimes, to simply “ask and receive” works just as well, and with less stress and energy. Besides, what God intends for me is much better than what I could come up with or make happen on my own.
And so, I took one more deep breath, and I stated my top five moments for 2022. I knew my exact intentions and said them rather effortlessly. I even had the wherewithal to ask for the support I knew I would need to not get in the way of God’s work; that’s when She responded, “And so it is done.”
Here is your end of year assignment. Name and state gratitude for your top moments of 2021. Then, come up with the same number of moments you wish to see to fruition in 2022. Write them down. Do not think small. Do not qualify (or quantify) how you wish your intentions to come forth. Simply name them out loud.
Afterwards, take a deep breath and repeat to yourself, “And so it is done.” Do your part to help your efforts and leave the rest to Spirit. It might even be worth asking for support not to get in the way and block your blessings. Let me know how it goes.
