A lunar eclipse is basically an amplified full moon while the solar eclipse is an amplified new moon.
The reason why the energy is amplified is because of the power that comes when our little planet is added to the mix. We feel these events down below and the impact reverberates, lasting for weeks and months.
The first eclipse of the season occurs in the sign of Taurus the Bull on Friday, November 19th. This will be the longest eclipse of the century – lasting a little over three hours – and as the Earth casts its shadow over the Moon, it will become visible to the naked eye throughout the entire Northern Hemisphere (peak time is between 2:30 a.m. ET and 5:30 a.m. ET.).
When the Moon is full, it sheds light on the darkness that surrounds it, which is symbolic of how we all encounter full moons – something that’s been hard to see is brought to light. In the sign of Taurus, what is revealed and made visible will be something of value, and the length of this lunation ensures that we will see things clearly.
Because this is a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, what comes to surface marks the beginning of what more is on the horizon. As I mentioned in this post, November’s eclipse begins a series of eclipses falling along the Taurus/Scorpio axis over the next 18 months. New chapters (and cliffhangers) that center our deepest yearnings and attachments, as well as how we acquire what makes us feel safe and secure, feature.
The solar eclipse, meanwhile, peaks two weeks later in the sign of Sagittarius on December 4th, the last along the Gemini/Sagittarius axis. Two weeks after that, Venus stations retrograde in the sign of Capricorn bringing assessments to Taurean themes that center love and money.
Folks, the astrology of the times IS SPEAKING, preparing us all for a turning point along our destined paths. Use the coming days, then, to get clear on what you value and how you can best achieve more of whatever that is.
This energy has staying power – if you’re up for the long haul, the Universe will support you. We’re not done settling into “new normals." We’re only getting started…
