Can we please, PLEASE, normalize play without cap or condition? Can we just give ourselves permission to have fun without feeling the need to accomplish something, first? Can we just know ourselves as deserving of pleasure because life is hard enough? Ok, great, thanks.

A friend sent an article with some advice on what it means to enter your 40s, and the part that resonated with me most was, “You don’t have to decide whether God exists.” This made me pause.
Friday marks my 40th birthday, and this milestone year is already shaping up to be an important one. I remember looking forward to turning 30 because I thought I’d be where I am today. 40, then, ain’t looking so bad…
I often reflect on just how much of what I was taught about the world, and my place in it, was all a lie. That I would be married with children by a certain age, working in a steady career, making a good living and doing my duties as a contributing member of a "just" society, was all bullshit.
I recently had a session with a coaching client I had been working with for over the past year. As we wrapped up our appointment, she took a deep breath, and with tears in her eyes and a gentle tone, admitted a very hard truth. It took everything for me not to cry along with her.
It’s a lusty kind of week, folks! Venus has ingressed the sign of Leo joining warrior planet Mars, and in a few weeks, the Sun will follow. It’s not Leo season yet, but it sure feels like it (don’t worry, Cancer, we’re still celebrating you!).
Happy Birthday, Cancer!
Summer has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere ushering us into Cancer Season. As the Matriarch of the Zodiac, Cancer themes center healing, nurturing, and nourishment; now is the time to tend to your own garden. The next few weeks come with a lot of options, things to consider and much to do. Life moves fast during an eclipse season (with the first of two eclipses peaking on Wednesday, May 26th) and even more so with Mercury retrograde.
As Jupiter gains traction in the sign of Pisces the Fish, the sign where the planet of luck and fortune operates at its best, we can expect to grow a little, become a bit more enlightened, and show more compassion.
I was invited to participate in an IG live event with oneTILT last week, and the topic of discussion was, “Leading with Empathy.” At the end of our conversation, I was asked to share a piece of advice to those listening. My response:
“People are doing the best they can with what they have at any given moment. Their best may not always be good enough, and people must be held accountable when their best proves harmful and destructive. And still, it helps to assume that we are all doing the best we can with what we have at any given moment.” |
